= On Albertus Johannes Brandt see The Dutch drawings in the Teyler Museum: artists born between 1740 and 1800, p.72ff: "Albertus Jonas Brandt took drawing lessons with the flower painter Jan Evert Morel (1769-1808), while working in his father's bookshop and bookbinder's business. He subsequently became a pupil of the famous still life painter Georgius Jacobus Johannes van Os. (...) Strongly influenced by Jan van Huysum (1682-1749), Brandt was much admired in the 19th century for his precise and accurate reproduction of fruit and flowers, and for his enormous technical ability. (...) He died at the early age of 33. His drawings fetched high prices when his estate was put up for auction in 1821." SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE LVII.
