84/4847 Joëls, A. (early 19th cent.). (Portrait of Rabbi Moshe Nasch). Partly handcol. stipple-engr. medallion showing Rabbi Moshe Nasch in profile, within a circular decorated border and with a Hebrew text engr. below the medallion, 14,7x9 cm., signed "A. Joëls fecit" above the image.

- Trimmed to just outside the plate-mark. A very fine and clean copy.

= Very rare portrait of the rabbi of Zwolle (b.?-1807) (only one other copy traced on the market, which was sold in 2019 at Kedem auctions). The Hebrew text below describes him as "(...) the perfect scholar, the honored and renowned R. Moshe Nasch, rabbi and dean of the Zwolle community." He wrote several works, three of which are shown supporting the frame surrounding his portrait, with their titles legible on the spines: "Yismach Moshe, VaYoel Moshe and VaYaster Moshe".
