First edition of famous programmatic almanac, which gave its name to the artist group, printed in 1200 copies. The publication influenced perceptions of modern art like hardly any other publication of the 20th century. The woodcut used for the cover illustration was created by Wassily Kandinsky and printed in blue and black, and additionally in orange for the deluxe and cloth editions. Contains text contributions by i.a. Kandinsky, Macke, Marc and Schoenberg and illustrations by/ after i.a. Arp, Heckel, Kandinsky, Kirchner, Klee, Kubin, Marc, Nolde and Pechstein, incl. initials designed by Marc and Hans Arp. The music scores are by Arnold Schoenberg, Alban Berg and Anton von Webern.
