77/1995 [Calligraphy]. Anonymous (17th cent.). Calligraphed manuscript album, consisting of 49 oblong leaves, pen and ink, each leaf 20x31 cm., alternating calligraphed Dutch text and calligraphed (fantasy) animal, sewn together with original cord.

- Outer lvs. sl. fingersoiled and frayed along edges; 1 leaf w. drawing of animal w. tear (±10 cm.) in outer blank margin; first 5 lvs. sl. (water)stained.

= On paper with "Horn" watermark (Laurentius 680, 681 or 682, dated between 1685 and 1691). Each text with a biblical reference, i.a. "Fonteijne Jacobs. Joannes 4:6", "Jonas Walvis Jona 4:", "Moses Handen Exodus.17" and "Noachs Arcke. Genesis 7:17". The depictions of the animals include a whale, an elephant, an unicorn, various sea creatures and a lion. Fine specimens with beautiful decorations. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE LXVI.
