Calligraphed manuscipt in pen and ink on paper, 17th cent., (199) lvs., num. calligraphed titles and initials w. tronies and animals, contemp. gilt calf w. central "Claudius" on frontcover, central "Tardivonus" on backcover, 4to.

- Inner and lower margin waterstained; wormholed in lower blank margin, worsening towards the end w. some lvs. repaired w. paper; some corrosion on opposite pages due to iron in ink. Binding sl. worn.

= Very attractive manuscript by Claudius Tardivonus, a 17th cent. calligrapher on whom we could not fine any information. A 17th century transcript of several classical works, i.a. Aristoteles' Rhetorica. Claudius writes: "Epigramma. si qui contingat nostrum reperire libellum. Ecce ubi mea si nomina scirevelis Tardivonus ego cognomine nomine Claudii. Ipse vocor propio si dare seripta cupis. Non invenum sed furtum non reddere credas Nec quodquam furto grandus esse nefas". SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE CVII.
