70/5300 Verrocchio, A. di (1435-1488) (studio/ surroundings of). (Head of a toddler with closed eyes). Drawing, charcoal, 16,7x13,7 cm., in a gilt handpainted wooden frame, w. the words "In ple Pater quod dixisti, nos tuis iubans precibus" along the edges of the frame.

- Paper soiled and edges strengthened on verso w. paper.

= In interesting pre-1800 frame. On 15th cent. laid paper with a cross shaped watermark (Briquet 3528). This same watermark is found in a leaf with a drawing by di Verrocchio showing the head of a woman, now in the British Museum. With the collector's mark of the Belgian artist Emile Wauters (Lugt 912); cf. Fred. Muller, Dessins anciens - Collection E.W.[auters]. Vente 15-16 Juin 1926, lot 232. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE CXXI.
