Engr. map, 43,5x55,5 cm., rich border decorations consisting of celestial spheres and small polar maps in the corners, 2 circular astronomical diagrams, interspersed with representations of the four elements and garlands of fruits and flowers, Amst., F. de Wit, ±1670.

- Small closed tear at both ends of middle fold; lower margins partly rather narrow; yellowed.

= De Wit's first worldmap, based on the large wallmap by Blaeu of 1648, and published in H. Doncker's De Zee-Atlas ofte Water-Wereld. Shirley 421 ("De Wit's map is one of the most decorative standard-size maps of the time and it is much less commonly found than his three other atlas world maps"). SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE CLXX.
