"The Czech translation of 'Les mamelles de Tiresias', inclusive of the author's preface in which surrealism was first discussed. Coincided with the first production of the play by the 'Osvobozené Divadlo' (Liberated Theatre). The 4 full page surrealist collage/ drawings by Šíma are not only of a surprising quality, but they are also the only collages he made to illustrate a book." (Vloemans).
= Published on occasion of the 10th anniversary of Apollinaire's death.
- Some foxing.
= Fine woodcuts of South Bohemian landscapes. Probably a private publication, or intended as a gift.
- Bookblock loose.
= Anděl, The avant-garde across media p.230. Blok series. Very rare collection of poems and drawings by the founding member of the Linie group, inspired by the Spanish civil war. "The simple, geometric stylisation of the illustrations originated in the artist's prints with social themes. The introductory drawing in the book features the motif of barbed wire forming a grid, a theme that appeared in a photograph by Bartuška at the time." (Anděl).
- Backwr. sl. waterst. along spine.
= Anděl, The avant-garde across media p.144ff. The author's first bookpublication, influenced by Josef Čapek, as well as the Devětsil movement. "For the Linie artists, Josef Bartuška in particular, Čapek's graphic work was a significant, even if certainly not the only source of inspiration. This is evident in a few designs by Bartuška such as the cover for the collection of poems Velikonoce [Easter] from 1923, which has a decorative motif that draws on Čapek's cover design for Charles Vildrac's book Michael Auclair". (Anděl). With AUTOGRAPH SIGNED SENTIMENT on htitle.
