- Folds as published, neatly flattened; possibly washed.
= Shows the route followed by the first official British Embassy to China, headed by George, Earl Macartney, between 1792 and 1794, from Hangzhou to Beijing, and beyond to the Great Wall, along the Grand Canal, the longest (1776 km) and oldest canal of the world.
- Some soiling in lower blank margin. = These Atlas Minor maps are rare.
- Both ends of trifle creased middle fold spitting; tiny tear in left blank margin; nevertheless fine.
= Fascinating map orientated west at the top, full of nice elements and details such as elephants, reindeer, wind wagons (perhaps the first depiction of these vehicles in the western world), Tartar tents, the Southern Capital Hangzhou (here written "Quianci") depicted (erroneously) as island city in the West Lake (but also more correctly depicted further south), the Chinese Wall ("contra Tartarorum (...) extructus"), and some references to historical events such as the flood of 1556. It is the first western map of China drawn directly from reports of the Portuguese mapmaker Luis Jorge de Barbuda (Ludovicus Georgius), who made a manuscript map of China which reached Ortelius via Arias Montanus. - One sharp crease or close tear near scale bar.
= Showing the Eastern part of China, incl. the Korean peninsula. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE LXXVII.
- Trifle yellowed; tiny tear in upper right corner just touching the border line; tiny hole in centre. Nevertheless a fine copy.
= Rare and very decorative map w. interesting details: Korea is shown as an Island and Japan has an atypical shape. Scattered notes throughout the map share various historical and mythical aspects of the country. Furthermore the Great Wall is depicted in the map: "A wall of 400 leages, betwixt the bankes of ye. King of China against ye. breaking in of ye. Tartars on this side". SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE LXXVIII.
- The plates and maps have occasionally been attached to each other in order to fit in properly into the obl. format of the binding.
- Former folds as published, w. sm. closed hole at intersection; sl. age-toned.

= Koeman IV, Wag. Spieghel der Zeevaerdt [44b]. "Thanks to the unparalleled skill of the engravers, Baptist and Johannes van Deutecom, the original ms. charts by Waghenaer were transformed into the most beautiful maps of the period" (Koeman IV, p.469). Rare and decorative chart.

- Doubled w. Japanese; neatly closed tear in the image in lower right corner; paper around "Borneo" damaged and professionaly restored/ retouched; some scattered very tiny holes mainly in right part. Despite its restorations an attractive map.

- Trifle browned; lacks sm. portion near lower edge, closed and retouched.
= Larger cities indicated with gold.
