- Some closed wormholes/ closed tears; a few parts w. handcolouring affected/ retouched; lower margin trifle frayed; nevertheless a good copy.

= Donkersloot-de Vrij 715, 2nd state of 2: "De eerste druk van deze wandkaart [1647], vervaardigd in opdracht van Dijkgraaf en Hoogheemraden van Rijnland, had een oplage van 100 exemplaren. Ze werd gemaakt ter vervanging van de verouderde kaart van Rijnland uit 1615. (...) De tweede druk van de kaart verscheen in 1687/ 1688, met enkele verbeteringen en aanvullingen. Romein de Hooghe vervaardigde voor deze druk een sierrand om de kaart, met wapens van de waterschapsfunctionarissen." Koeman, Geschiedenis van de kartografie van Nederland, p.138: "Uiteraard heeft Zuid-Holland ook zijn grote namen in de waterschapskartografie van de 17e eeuw gehad. Onder die namen domineert die van Jan Jansz. Dou, de landmeter van Rijnland en van zijn collega Steven van Broeckhuysen. Hun grote kaart (...) geldt terecht als het "non plus ultra" van Nederlands waterschapskartering uit de 17e eeuw. (...) De grote schaal [1:30.000] veroorloofde de volledige weergave van de bewoning: niet alleen de buitenplaatsen maar alle boerderijen en overige opstallen langs de wegen.
