= From the library of Jan te Winkel (bookplate on htitle). Set of three religious poems, written/ adapted by Rodenburgh towards the end of his life (he died in 1644), when he was tired of his worldly life at court. Very rare. No copy traced in the market.

= Rare second edition of the Dutch translation of Rousseau's Contrat social (first publ. Amst., 1762).
- Apparently lacks (skips?) 1 index leaf (Iii4) (but catchword is correct); a few quires in vol.1 (sl.) foxed. Both vols. paper over covers partly worn/ chafed; backstrips sl. worn/ trifle dam.; corners rubbed; upper joint of vol.2 starting.

"Hanway was a wellknown traveller and philanthropist, popularly remembered as the pioneer user of the umbrella. (...) As a partner of a St. Petersburg merchant, he made a journey in 1743 down the Volga and by the Caspian Sea to Persia with a caravan of woolen goods, and returned in 1745 by the same route after many perilous adventures" (Cox I, p.255).

= The extremely rare first printed edition in Dutch of any work by the great Dutch mystic Jan van Ruusbroec and his magnum opus. BCNI 7418; Ruusbroec catalogue K.B. Brussels, p.256-258: "Deze uitgave bleef de enige Ruusbroec-druk in het Nederlands tot 1858." No copy traced on the market.
- Frequent contemp. underlining and num. annots. in blank margins; occas. thumbed/ foxed/ browned and some lvs. w. sm. wormholes in lower blank margin; a few lvs. w. marginal waterstaining; last few lvs. mouldy; first and last lvs. frayed in blank margins (last leaf backed w. = Adams B2835; BM Italian STC p.126. Rare collection of works of the mystic St. Bridget of Sweden (1303-1373; born as Birgitta Birgersdotter). Contains: Revelationes (ed. by Olaus Magnus, w. extensive index), Liber Celestis, Regula St. Salvatoris revela, Sermo, Oratio, Revelationes extravagantes, and Vita St. Catharinae. The fine woodcuts after the woodcuts of the Nürnberger edition by Koberger, partly copied after Dürer, mainly show scenes from the life of St. Bridget.
