= From the library of H. Berkhof (1914-1995), an influential Dutch theologian. The first edition was published in 1677 and an English translation w. the title The oeconomy of the covenants between God and man appeared in 1762. Cf. Glasius III, p.611ff: "Het voornaamste systematische werk van onzen godgeleerde was: de oeconomie foederum (...). Het getuigt van grondige geleerdheid en van onafhankelijk zelfdenken." (p.614).

= With the manuscript owner's entry of Johannes Melchior Goeze (1717-1786) (dated 1741), later Lutheran pastor and theologian and head of the Lutheran church in the State of Hamburg. He is mostly known as the most important opponent of Ephraim Lessing in the Fragmentenstreit (Lutheran orthodoxy versus Enlightenment).
