= Satire of late 19th century French government administration and politics, containing charming original watercolour drawings of various scenes. Bound in are two letters by the unidentified illustrator [signature unread] (dated "2 Novembre 93" and "9 Août 94"), referencing his work: "Je vous fais remettre le volume en même temps que les dessins et [...] croquis" and "Voici enfin les aquarelles du Pontax ainsi que les trois titres que vous aviez demandé. (...) Bien difficile, ces titres à dessiner sur ce detestable papier non-collé!". The well-known ed. illustrated by Henriot is of a later date (1899). This edition and the illustrator not traced.
