(letter by P.C. Boutens to his publisher C.A.J. van Dishoeck, February 1916). After 1916 the drawings came into the posession of Anton J.A. van Herzeele who subsequently gave them to an individual. They were auctioned in 1993 and were bought by a private collector. An illustrated edition of P.C. Boutens' translation of Omar Khayyam's Rubaiyát was eventually published in 1995 by the Nederlandse Vereniging voor Druk- en Boekkunst using these ORIGINAL DRAWINGS by Arondeus with permission of the collector. A copy of this publication is included in this lot. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE IV.
