DESTOUCHES, Oeuvres de théatre, 1745, 6 parts in 3 (of 5) vols. Two vols. w. bookmark glued on upper pastedown. Spines worn/ dam. at joints; boardedges worn. Coat of arms of H.-J.-L. TURINETTI. Guigard p. 459).
- Bookplate on first free endpaper. Binding w. some worn/ eroded spots; lacks part of letterpiece.
= Rare.
- Backcover/ top of spine has some light wear. Very fine and attractive binding.
= On the binding: the border decoration points to either the Paupers Orphanage Bindery or the Putto bindery, but the remarkable corner fleurons and star-shaped ornaments on the spine could not be traced. Cornelis Ouboter van der Grient (1797-1868), Dutch artist, chiefly painted town views, landscapes, interiors and historical scenes. Nothing could be traced on his collection of graphic artworks catalogued in this volume. The catalogue is divided into 3 sections: Dutch etchers, European etchers and artists who made mezzotints and aquatints. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE XC.

- Joints worn w. some chafings and starting at spine-ends; top of spine restored; two tiny wormholes on frontcover; "Op Dinsdags" on both covers cut out and replaced; sl. rubbed along extremities.
= With the manuscript dedication on 2 lvs. bound at the beginning (partly lacking outer margins), dated June 5th 1764 in Culemborg ("Kulenburg"). The manuscript dedication by Adrianus Johannes Broekman suggests that this binding for Joannes de Kruif and his wife Anna Maria was commissioned on the occasion of their wedding. One roll on the binding identified from the Leaf Outline Bindery (see Storm van Leeuwen IIA, p.126ff). SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE XCI.

= Unidentified coat of arms, belonging to a member of the Order of the Elephant. On the contents: Barbier III, 1024.
AND one other Danish binding, contemp. calf, frontcover w. gilt crowned "I.L.S. Copenhagen 1750", gilt spine.
- Contents w. minor imperfections. Top of spine sl. dam. and w. sm. stains.
- Heraldic bookplate on upper pastedown; sl. foxed.
- Silver clasp and catches heavily oxidized.
- Silverwork needs polishing; bookblock loose(ning).
= Attractive chiselled silver fittings, with the initials "S.M." engraved on the inside of the upper clasp.
- Some sl. occas. foxing/ soiling. Lower part (± 4 cm.) of backstrip restored; gilt on covers trifle rubbed.
ADDED: Theodoretus. De providentia Orationes decem. Paris, F. Pelicanus, 1630, (8),411p., parallel Greek and Latin text, later richly gilt calf, both covers w. central stamp "IESUS / MARIA" in a wreath, surrounded by a pattern of fleur-de-lys within broad dentelle border, gilt ribbed spine, gilt boardedges, a.e.g.
- Some sl. foxing; (damaged) heraldic bookplate on upper pastedown; endpaper soiled/ (water)stained. Lower joint split at top and w. tiny wormholes at foot.
- All works browned.
- Trifle rubbed, mostly along edges and joints.
Early 20th cent. leather "a la cathédrale" binding, both covers w. a blindst. and gilt die of cathedral windows, blindst. and giltlettered ribbed spine, gilt tooled edges, richly gilt inside dentelles, marbled endpapers, a.e.g, contemp. board clamshell box (worn). - ON: Missel Romain orné de compositions tirées de la vie de Jeanne d'Arc. Tours, Alfred Mame & sons, n.d. (±1925), 431,(1)p., helio-engr. frontisp. and 5 plates after L.O. MERSON, all other pages with richly decorated borders.
- Faces in silverwork partly sl. worn; all silverwork needs cleaning; joints w. sm. dam. spots at foot of spine. With multiple silver marks "IB" or "HB", possibly a mark with three crosses topped by a crown (Amsterdam?) and a mark "VD".
