75 1173 Jellema C O 75 1173 Jellema C O
75/1173 Jellema, C.O. Lot of ±85 AUTOGRAPH LETTERS (incl. 11 picture postcards) SIGNED ("C.O. Jellema", "Cor Jellema" and "Cor") to Paul Sars ("Zeer geachte Heer Sars", "Beste Paul" and "Lieve Paul"), dated from "Groningen, 22 VIII 1988" to "Oosterhouw, 1 III 2001", nearly all pen and ink, the majority of the letters recto and verso and w. the printed letterhead of the author, occas. multiple lvs., orig. envelopes preserved. - ADDED: some related documents, i.a. the obituary card of Jellema.

= Extensive and very interesting and nice collection of letters by the poet/ Germanist C.O. Jellema (1936-2003) to the Germanist Paul Sars. Jellema and Sars first met at the presentation of the Dutch translation of Paul Celan's poetry (Gedichten (1988), translated by Frans Roumen, w. commentary by Paul Sars) and from their common interest a close friendship grew. A few letters accompanied by the original inserts and also including 3 AUTOGRAPH POEMS SIGNED (2x added and 1x incorporated in a letter): "Ik heb je eenmaal slapend meegemaakt (...)" [in a letter dated "zondagmorgen, 17-3" [1991]; later published as "Sonnet voor Paul S."]. The intimate letters concern personal as well as professional matters and deal i.a. with Paul Celan, poetry, poetics, translations, Gerrit Achterberg, Jan Siebelink, Martinus Nijhoff, publications, emotions, dreams, memories, love, religion, appointments etc. "(...) [15/05/1990]. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE XXXIII.
