= On 16th century laid paper with watermark showing a double feather or quil with the initial FA and below a C. Perhaps after Polidoro da Caravaggio.

- Laid down on mount; worn; w. a few tiny holes and sm. tear from acid ink biting.

= After the woodcut from the Small Passion series (Bartsch 35). With an unidentified collector's mark (round waffle) on recto.

74/4648 Anonymous (16th/ 17th cent.). (The martydom of St. Sebastian). Drawing after P. VERONESE (1528-1588), pen and ink and brown wash, 39,5x56,5 cm.

- Fully laid down; a few closed holes; lacks part of lower margin (increasing in width from the central fold to right margin where it is 3 cm. wide); formerly folded twice, with some darkening and creases on folds.

= Vaguely visible prob. 16th cent. unidentified watermark ("IHS" with cross in the letter H). Close copy of the original, but leaving out the part to the right of the front pillar and the head with turban to the left. Attribution on passepartout border in 20th cent. pencil to Fr. d'Albani (1578-1660). SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE LXXIV.

74/4649 Anonymous (early 17th cent.). (A dwarf in court costume wearing a hat and glasses). Drawing, pen and ink and grey brush, 8,8x4,9 cm., monogrammed (illegible) and dated "1607" in lower left corner, framed.

- One tear in upper right margin (±1 cm.), one tear in middle of right outer margin (±2,5 cm.) and one tear in lower half left outer margin (±0,5 cm.); sm. waterstain in lower right corner. Not examined outside of frame.

= On verso a drawing in red chalk of a seated lady. On laid paper with part of a unidentified watermark.

Anonymous (16th/17th cent., Italian school). (Salomé supporting Mary the Virgin overcome with grief). Drawing, red chalk, 9,5x16,7 cm. - AND 2 small pen and ink drawings, showing two biblical (?) scenes, heavily creased and w. closed tears.

- Strengthened on verso with very thin Japanese paper, over paper remnants of former mount; closed holes and tears.

= On verso a hard-to-read annotation "Daniele da Volterra (?)" (pasted over with the Japanese paper).

- With a pencil grid; laid down; soiled/ stained at various places; left edge cut irregularly, possibly with loss of image.

= The Holy Virgin and Child seated on the back of a donkey. With the collector's mark of F. de Wit on verso of mount (Lugt 3383, unidentified by Lugt).

74/4653 Anonymous (17th cent.). "Gesprongen Buskruijt Magazijn Overblijfselen A° 1654 den 12 October". Drawing, pen and ink and grey wash, 14,7x20,2 cm., w. manuscript caption in pen and ink in upper blank margin, tipped onto mount.

= With a small contemp. letterpress clipping describing the event that took place in Delft tipped onto mount. Another unrelated 18th cent. manuscript note is tipped onto the mount (stating the total sum collected on 10 September 1731 for the needy displaced Piemontese (Waldensians) in Delft and surroundings amounted to "f.11437-8-". A huge amount of money was collected throughout Calvinist Holland (over f.250.000 on that one day alone)). SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE LXXV.

= Perhaps the scene in which Iris guides the wounded Venus to Mars. Or the goddess of Victory walking up to a general. On laid paper with a watermark showing 3 crescent moons in a row, from big to small. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE LXXIV.

= Perhaps Hercules with the defeated Nemean Lion or Samson and the defeated lion. Or perhaps Saint Jerome and the lion.

- Doubled; 2 large closed tears through image (repaired and only sl. visible); margins occas. sl. chipped; tipped-in.

= Attributed to ADRIAEN HANNEMAN (ca.1601-1671) by the previous owner (see: O.ter Kuile. Adriaan Hanneman 1604-1671, ill.16 en 70 for the portraits of Sophie van der Palts showing great similarities). With pencil annotation on mount stating the drawing was previously in the collection of Johan Lord Somers (Lugt 2981). With annotation in pencil on verso "Original drawing by Van Dyck". And with annotation in pencil on verso mount "Sir Peter Lely". SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE LXXVI.
