= Interesting collection of myths and curious events with amusing woodcuts showing i.a. odd creatures and monsters. First published in Paris in 1560. Typographia Batava 670. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE LXXXVII.

"Ofschoon deze geschriften zeker aan Bockenberg den naam van geschiedschrijver niet konden verschaffen, is het echter jammer dat zijn groot werk, waar van wij straks melding maakten, en waar aan hij jaren lang gearbeid had, niet in het licht verschenen is. (...). Bockenberg trachtte historieschrijver van Holland te worden, en werd dit in 1591, in weerwil van Dousa, die ijverig, maar vruchteloos, voor zijnen vriend Baudius om dezen post verzocht had." (De Wind). Part of a work Bockenberg meant to combine into a single large work on the History of Holland, Zeeland and Friesland, a work he never finished.

= "A.F. Deslandes (ou Boureau-Deslandes) (1689-1757) est surtout connu en qualité d'auteur de 'Pygmalion ou la Statue animée' et d'une 'Histoire critique de la philosophie', ainsi que par le monographies de Rolf Geissler et de Jean Macary. De cet auteur, influencé par Fontenelle et éclipsé par la notoriété des Philosophes de la seconde moitié du siècle, F.S. a eu la bonne idée de rééditer et de présenter ces Réflexions, son premier ouvrage, publié anonymement en 1712-14, jamais réédité depuis le 18e siècle". = First Dutch edition of the Histoire du S. Sacrement de Miracle reposant à Bruxelles (first ed. Brussels, R. Velpius, 1605), written by Steven Ydens, a canon of the St. Gudele Church in Brussels. The legend, which takes place in the 14th century, tells of the miraculous return of sacred hosts after they were stolen from this church by a group of Jews. The story is illustrated with engravings by Adriaen Collaert (1560-1618). The New Hollstein, The Collaert Dynasty VII, 1819-36; Funck 414; cf. BCNI 9833 (ed. 1644).
