Pannekoek, De verluchting van het boek, p.36/41: "Henricus had vroeger reeds voor de na-dichtingen van Pol de Mont - te vinden in zijn Iris - op het Halewine-motief twee potloodteekeningen gemaakt. Deze Halewine-historie heeft hem blijkbaar niet meer losgelaten en twee volle jaren heeft hij aan dit kolossale boek gewerkt, dat uit 25 groote bladen bestaat.
