= Danny Bolle was the daughter of the Rotterdam publisher and bookdealer Bolle. She took over the business in 1933. It is unknown how she met Charles Eyck. The letters were mostly written during a short trip of Eyck to Stockholm and its surroundings. The letters show Eyck's affection for her, but it is doubtful if the feelings were mutual or of the same nature. At the time she was in a relationship with Jan Boex, a dear friend of Eyck. He describes details of his stay in Stockholm, i.a. an event at which ir. Vincent Willem van Gogh (nephew of the artist Vincent) showed works of his uncle and a visit to an exhibition of the painter Eric Halström: "Nu is de bescheiden vertellenden Eric een bombardeur van verf.
