The plates contain a broad variety of useful information, ranging from how to catch birds, fish and mammals to distilling techniques and landscaping.

= Pritzel 1992. Johann Christian Cuno (1708-1783), was a German poet, botanist and merchant, who was enlisted in the army in the midst of his studies, and only after 10 years' service managed to return to his former scholarly life. In the early 1740s he arrived in Amsterdam, where he married a widow and revived her late husband's merchant business. He befriended numerous Dutch poets, whose works he translated into German, started a botanical garden outside Amsterdam, met Emanuel Swedenborg and finally returned to Germany.
