Blad Werkgroep 18e eeuw, p.6-7, who state that this is the oldest known theoretical work on the design of gardens in Holland. In it Pieter de la Court states that the ideal form for a garden is triangular, a form which ties in neatly with the then fashionable research on the rules of perspective. De la Court also gives directions as to where specific plants should be planted and, from the second edition onwards, the work includes a lengthy chapter on the growing of flowers. It also pays much attention to kitchen- and fruit-gardens and greenhouses and the work introduced successful pineapple-growing in Europe. Rare.
