- Lacks the 4 hats; head darkened and neatly torn in 2 parts, repaired by laying it down on a thin copperplate in the same shape; small hole from former binding cord in spine throughout; occas. foxed spots; owner's entry on first free endpaper. Paper over spine partly worn/ sl. dam.; wrappers newly sewn. Despite the defects an acceptable copy.

= Very nice and early example of a paper-doll booklet, showing the girl Ellen in various poses, activities and clothes. Cf. Whitton p.98; Haining p. 14-15 (fully illustrating a similar example): "Some of the prettiest of the early movable books for children were those issued from about 1810 onwards by the Firm of S. and J. Fuller from their delightful address of The Temple of Fancy in Rathbone Place, London."
