= Portfolio to hold the 9th part of the children's book series Groot en Goed. Cf. KVCS, p.270. What is interesting is the promotional and rather pompous brochures by the publisher J. Schuitemaker, mounted on the inside of the portfolio. He boasts of the success of his catchpenny prints and his publishing enterprise, he lists his products and explains why they look the way they do. "(...) de raadgevers en voorstanders van mijne onderneming vergeten te dikwijls dat het hier eene zaak geldt voor het volk, dus ook voor de minvermogende kinderen in ons land; dat de eerste voorwaarde dus is en blijven moet: Een prent voor één cent!" "Deze en gene heeft mij gevraagd. 'Waarom ik mijne prenten niet, even als de Brabandsche, gekleurd in den handel brenge?' (...) Het doel van mijn prenten-uitgave is sedert den aanvang gerigt tegen de vaak onzedelijke strekking van die uit Belgie enz., als middel tot smokkelarij, tegen ongehoord lage prijzen ingevoerd worden; ik wensch in plaats van die producten van wansmaak, iets beters en iets meer hollandsch te leveren (...) Mijn prenten zijn over 't geheel te goed geteekend om op de gebruikelijke wijze door bonte vlekken misvormd te worden (...)".
