- Velvet trifle/ sl. worn along extremities, w. some small repairs/ restorations; one clasp not fastening well on catch due to small worn-away part of catch. Contents: old owner's entries on verso first free endpaper.

= One clasp w. the initials "S.D.G.M." and "L.A.B.", the other w. "1851" and "22 Dec. 1873". The catches each show a seated human figure, 3x a woman: one w. a small child and a suckling baby, one holding a bird and an anchor, one holding a stone column, and the last showing a (male?) person holding a cross-shaped staff. Any goldmarks are hidden under the pastedowns. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE CXVII.

69/2990 [Bindings]. 19th cent. tortoise-shell binding with one large finely chiselled golden clasp and catch by unidentified goldsmith, golden hinges attached to binding w. tiny golden pins, a.e.g., sm. 8vo (15x10 cm.). - ON: Bijbel, dat is: de gansche Heilige Schrift (...) (Amst.,/ Haarlem, J. Brandt en Zoon etc., 1861).

- A fine copy, covers and spine trifle scratched; one pin missing; catch on frontcover has to be fastened more tightly.

= Beautiful binding, the pastedowns only reaching halfway over the covers, leaving the outer half of the covers to show the translucency of the tortoise-shell material. Both clasp and catch w. a crowned lion hallmark and "DA"(?). The clasp shows Moses holding the Ten Commandments, the catch and the part of the clasp fastened to backcover show two of the four evangelists. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE CXVII.

"Nommez sec fleurs" embroidered w. gilt thread and the right pocket with an emblem of a rake and a hoe (or fruit picker on a stick) within an oval embroidered wreath, both pockets with chain-like decoration in gilt thread and w. floral decoration in corners and on folding flaps, with use of sequins, 11x18 cm.
