"Op de omslag zijn behalve de gelithografeerde titel zes jongens met trom, sabel en muts afgebeeld, een verwijzing naar de T=Trommelslager. Opnieuw staan er twee letters op een bladzijde, samen met een kleurig plaatje en tweeregelig rijmpje. Behalve een harpspeelster, ezeldrijver, ingenieur en uienboer treden er ook kermisgasten op, zoals een berenleider, koorddanser, marketentster en Pierrot. De letters Q en X worden in veel AB-boeken weggelaten en dat is ook hier het geval." (Lust en Leering).

= Charming private A.B.-book featuring some family members and friends of the maker, often w. an accomp. photograph: a younger brother Eduard and baby sister Laura and Henk, Eduard's best friend and his baby sister Charlotte ("C is Charlotte de naam van Henk zijn zusje; D is de Dag waarop Edu voor het eerst aan Laura gaf een kusje"), the mother, Nena ("M is Mammie die altijd op ons past; N is Nena die voor ons kookt en wast"), the father ("die in een auto raced") and a grandmother. They also had a cat named Thijs. There are refences to Bergen: "B is Bergen met zijn mooi groot strand", "F is de Fluit van de Belletrein naar zee"), Amsterdam, Utrecht ("waar Edu dikwijls is geweest"; accomp. by a photograph of a large, at the time modern town house) and Indonesia.
