= Most woodcuts show village views, probably Noordwolde, Friesland. The artist was an art teacher at the Rijksrietvlechtschool in Noordwolde from 1919 to 1957.
= According to T.J. van Minnen in the exhibition catalogue of 1996 (Rotancentrum, Noordwolde, supplied with this lot) this is not the 14th game of the rematch between Euwe and Aljechin on the 6th of November, but the 11th game in Groningen on October, 30th.
