Velpeau was a skilled surgeon and renowned for his knowledge of surgical anatomy. He published over 340 titles on surgery, embryology, anatomy and obstetrics. The atlas "Nouveau Éléments de Medicine Opératoire (...)" is part of a larger set of 4 volumes with the same name and describes new techniques in the fields of medicine and surgery that Velpeau helped to discover. This is the rare original English work. "(...) und kann nicht genug hervorgehoben werden, dass dieses Buch [über Ohrenheilkunde] durch Einführung von zweckmässigen Untersuchungsmethoden und wegen der zahlreichen neuen und durchwegs zuverlässigen Beobachtungen erst den Grund gelegt hat zur Entwicklung einer wissenschaftl.
