Central calligraphed title and poem in pen and brown, red and green ink on paper surrounded by 3 views in pen and brown ink (two views (to the left and right of the poem) of Haarlem seen from the Spaarne river and at the top a view of the town hall), two calligraphed psalms in pen and brown ink within richly decorated circular border in lower corners, the whole within architectural borders, the poem signed "P. Toornenburgh" and the tympanum above the town hall monogrammed and dated "1793 pennekonst PTB", 61,7x66,7 cm., framed.

- Slight overall foxing; some traces of silverfish activity in centre of lower border and in circular border around psalm in lower right corner.

= Beautiful calligraphed drawing by Toornenburgh, who is chiefly known as architectural draughtsman, but who was also a very gifted calligrapher. The eulogy on Haarlem especially praises the city for the invention of printing by Laurens Janszoon Coster, who was still considered by many Dutchmen to have a justified claim to fame for this invention at the time.
