Monogrammist "D.L."(?) (late 18th/ early 19th cent.). (People at work in the kitchen of a large mansion). Drawing, pen and ink and grey wash, 5x12 cm., within black framing line w. rounded corners, monogrammed in pen and ink, tipped onto mount.
- Sl. creased and fingersoiled. = Very nice delicate drawing.

= Interesting unrecorded(?) drawing of the cachelot that was beached on 20 February 1762 between Zandvoort and Wijk aan Zee. Not listed in Ingalls and not mentioned in B.C. Sliggers and A.A. Wertheim, Op het strand gesmeten. Vijf eeuwen potvisstrandingen aan de Nederlandse kust. On the stranded sperm whale of 1762 see Ingalls no. 376ff and Sliggers/ Wertheim p.86ff.
