Hill 1311: "Entering what has since been called Parry or Viscount Melville Sound in September, he [Parry] reached longitude 110° West, thereby earning a reward of £5,000 that was offered by Parliament to the first ship's company that should attain that meridian". "In northern Hudson Bay, Parry sailed north of Southampton Island instead of south, the route preferred by previous navigators, thus becoming the first to sail to the Frozen Strait. He then confirmed Middleton's discovery of Repulse Bay. In late August, having found no passage through Repulse Bay, he explored the coast of Melville Peninsula north and named, among other features, Haviland Bay, Bushnan and Vansittart islands, Gore Bay, and Lyon and Hoppner inlets."
