Nous avons eu la bonne fortune de mettre la main, au dernier moment, sur un des deux seuls exemplaires connus échappés au censure, et de constater, par une comparaison minutieuse de cet exemplaire primitif avec les exemplaires ordinaires, que Henri Estienne avait dû réimprimer, en divers endroits de son livre, vingt-huit feuillets, soit cinquante-six pages. Personne, jusqu'à ce jour, n'avait eu l'occasion de signaler ces nombreux passages, qui font de l'Apologie de Hérodote, trois cent ans après sa publication, un livre presque nouveaux.
