The volumes are compiled from the catalogue section of the "Rapport Generale" of the 1925 exhibition, originally published in wrappers in 18 vols. It was later separately published as the Encyclopedie, without the orig. title-pages and prel. lvs. of the original catalogue. Various editions of 7 to 12 volumes were issued of the Encyclopedie, depending on the original parts that were still available. In effect part of these sets lacked some volumes, but this was disguised by the fact that the title was printed across the spines of all the volumes in a stylish and distinctive way. A rich source for art deco design.
