= Rare depiction of this 'Battle of Lekkerbeetje' (or Lekkerbeetken), after the painting by Sebastian Vrancx. The battle, named after Abrahams' nickname, was initiated by Abrahams after he had learned that Pierre de Bréauté considered Grobbendoncq's troups so weak that he would win a battle even against double numbers. They arranged a cavalry duel with equal numbers (22 against 22) on the Vughterheide. Abrahams was shot at the first charge; Bréauté was taken prisoner and killed in cold blood in revenge for Abraham's death. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE CLI.
