Not in Alt-Japan Katalog. Account of the voyage made for the West India Company through the Strait Le Maire to the Coast of Chile in the year 1643, including extensive descriptions of the population. The work includes Maerten Gerritsz. Vries' account of the island Yezo; Vries also visited Sakhalin and discovered some other islands as well (Iturup and Urup). His account contains the first Dutch description of Yezo (Hokkaido) (the population, means of subsistence (also on whales), etc.) "Durch B.s Fahrt war die These eines ausgedehnten S-Kontinents im nahen S Amerikas aber noch nicht aufgegeben, sondern nur abgewandelt worden. Man wähnte nämlich, daß er nur eine weitere Meeresstraße passiert hätte, die im N von der Staten-Insel, im S von noch unbekanntem Insel- bzw. Festland flankiert wäre.
