= "The series Exaltation stems from Dolrons extensive travels throughout Africa and Asia, between 1991 and 1999. The underlying aim of the project was to investigate existing relationships between spiritual longing and the physical world, concentrating on the body as a pivotal channel of material and immaterial sensations. The series represents religious ceremonies of diverse ethnic groups, showing how forms of physical mutilation are employed to cut off sensorial consciousness in order to gain spiritual intimacy with divine dimension" (www.desireedolron.com).
