= SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE LVII.
- Three album lvs. loosening.
- One album large (water)stain on frontcover.
= Remarkable collection of photographs from various locations at the front (both East and West) as well as the hinterland. Seemingly taken from a German perspective, most photographs show German troops in action, French and British prisoners of war, German officers and high officials (incl. Kaiser Wilhelm) and their allies from i.a. Turkey and Bulgaria. Some of the captions also disclose a somewhat pro-German point of view (i.a. "Laatste opname van Generaal-Veldmaarschalk von Eichhorn in Kiëf (Oekraine) vergezeld van zijn Adjudant Hauptmann von Dressler, die beiden het slachtoffer werden van door Engelsch geld omgekochte moordenaars"). Also contains a few images from the German colonies in Eastern Africa. Possibly forming the photographic archive of one or more war-photographers.
= Mostly pictures taken on the British Western front, i.a. showing ANZAC (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) soldiers.
ADDED: 2 fold. col. lithogr. maps, i.a. "Ravensteins Kriegskarte für das Aisne Gebiet (...)".
= Varied collection, incl. several aerial photographs, military group portraits, scenes of destruction on the battlefield and a few contemporary but non-war related photographs.
= Interesting collection, incl. official press photographs showing i.a. General Smuts inspecting his troops, H.M. the King inspecting war booty, soldiers digging and restoring trenches, ruins of towns taken by the English (i.a. Athie, Boisleux au Mont, Courcelles, Peronne, Tilloy, Ypres), scenes of the front from the Aisne and Marne, burial scenes, crashed zeppelins, scenes aboard allied ships and in general the incredible devastation of the towns and villages on the Western front. Also including a series of photographs showing "What the daughters of Britain are doing" (mostly of women at work in munition and arms factories). SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE LVIII.
