= On the prophetic preacher and Fifth Monarchist Jan Rothe (1628-1702), who prophesized the coming of a big evil and the end of the world. Especially after the murder on Johann de Witt. According to him this evil will be destroyed when all nations unite after which a thousand year peaceful reign would follow, with Amsterdam as the new Jerusalem. He created a small following during his lifetime. In 1674 he and a group of his followers went to Buxtehude to await the coming of the new world. Like many other millenialist movements, the group was disbanded when the end of the world failed to happen.
