= The first and only issue published. Its founder/ publisher, Charlie Tennant (1957-1996), was 21 when he launched the Chelsea Scoop. Tennant had met Warhol earlier in New York and used his interview with Warhol as the eye-catcher for his publication (and as transpires in the interview he himself was an eyecatching young man for Warhol too). Three of four other articles in the issue are interviews: one by Joan Wyndham (about an erotic centre in Amsterdam called Call Boy International, that caters for ladies who are "past the grand climacteric" as the owner of the centre puts it), one by Charlie Tennant himself (with Jordan (aka Pamela Rooke, punk rock fashion icon) and an interview by "four artists, someone else and Duggie Fields). Very rare, only one copy traced on the market. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE XXI.

The earlier the date of publication, the more striking and daring the richness in subjects, design, typography and covers. To quote H.Th. Wijdeveld, the general editor: "Zij hebben de frisheid van het gedurfde, niet gebonden en zingen hun 'illusies van de komende schoonheid'". For a complete overview consult Le Coultre, Wendingen 1918-1932 (Blaricum/ New York, 2001); with on p.6: "Looking back at the twentieth century, one sees in Wendingen a compelling model of design practice, singular in the intensity of its focus and the originality of its aesthetic form. Nothing in the evolution of avant-garde art and design matches the sustained and impassioned visual inquiry of this magazine." SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE XXII.
