U oude herinneringen ophaalde, bedacht ik mij dat op het atelier bij mijn broer in den Haag, nog wel een en ander uit dien tijd kon zijn. Ik vond en kreeg van hem bijgaande krabbels van de brand in de Schouwburg, en van het kijklustige publiek, waarbij een smeris, die al is het misschien niet degene die u van de schutting haalde, toch zonder twijfel tot zijn sectie behoorde. Op de schets van de Parkweg 1890, komt het huis van Jhr. van Riemsdijk voor (...). Bij het losmaken uit het boek is deze teekening in een der hoeken een beetje beschadigd (...)".
