Hun grote kaart (...) geldt terecht als het "non plus ultra" van Nederlands waterschapskartering uit de 17e eeuw. (...) De grote schaal [1:30.000] veroorloofde de volledige weergave van de bewoning: niet alleen de buitenplaatsen maar alle boerderijen en overige opstallen langs de wegen. Onvervangbare informatie over de infrastructuur van het dichtst bewoonde gedeelte van Nederland in de Gouden Eeuw." "In 1746 werd de kaart voor de derde maal uitgegeven, maar nu sterk gewijzigd door Melchior Bolstra. To this 3rd edition were added a map of the Haarlemmermeer with dotted lines to indicate the increasing size from 1531 until 1740 (55x63 cm.) and a plate of projected sluices near Katwijk (43x65 cm.), both are present in our copy. (sl. browned). - ADDED 7 plans/ views of Brabant, i.a. "Civitas Mons Geertrudanus sicuti erat dum occuparet' ab excellent: sua Mauritio de Naßou. Anno" (etched bird's eye view of the siege of the city, from GUICCIARDINI, early 17th cent. (slightly waterst.; Guiccardini Illustratus 1.2) and "Graef ahn der Mase" (from D. MEISNER, Thesaurus philopoliticus or Politisches Schatzkästlein, early 17th cent.).

- Creases, closed tears, a few small (closed) holes and yellowing/ waterstaining, mainly in left and right part; folded vertically in four.
= Shows the renovated dike running east from the mouth of the Vecht river and the Muiderslot along the Zuiderzee, with three cross-sections of the dike. The old dike was found damaged by sea worms, which led to a fortification of the seawall with stone. Donkersloot-de Vrij, Vechtstreek 30; not in Van den Brink (cf. no. 20 for the projected dyke). Rare.
