The engravings in the book go back on the engravigs that were made at the directions of Jerome Nadal (one of the first Jesuits) for use in his Evangelicae Historiae Imagines (publ. Antw., 1593).

Almost certainly this is Petrus van Musschenbroek (1764-1823), legal officer in Utrecht, fervent bookcollector, member of "Maats. v. Ned. Letterk." and correspondant of the "Tweede Klasse v. h. Kon. Ned. Inst.". He spent much time studying Dutch history and founding a large collection of books on (legal) history and Utrecht. After his death the collection was sold in Leyden (1826).
