De Wind p.322: "Het doel van dit werk, waaraan veel geleerdheid met weinig oordeel is te koste gelegd, is om overal Celten en Belgen te vinden. De bewijzen vindt hij in zijne taalkunde. In het Paradijs spraken Adam en Eva Celtisch, dat is Duitsch en Vlaamsch (...) het werk [bevat] veel wetenswaardigs, doch als begraven in eenen vloed van nuttelooze geleerdheid." Still of interest for the copious (nearly 400p.), bizarre indexes (proper names, geographical names, subjects and etymology). A famous attempt of the author to prove that Hebrews, Egyptians, Greeks, Etruscans and Romans all spoke Celtic (= German and Flemish).

= Dünnhaupt p.3661 (and passim). Benjamin Schmolck (or Schmolcke/ Schmolcken) was a popular author of devotional songs form Silezia. "Obschon er Schweidnitz kaum je verließ, hatte sich sein Ruhm als Kirchenlieddichter längst über ganz Deutschland verbreitet, ehe er in Schweidnitz am 12. Februar 1737 verstarb. Zwar konnte ihn noch Graesse herablassend als "un poète fade et ennuyeux" belächeln, doch hat sein Beitrag zum deutschen Kirchenlied des Pietismus inzwischen längst wieder im höherem Maße Würdigung gefunden".
