= Important letter on the events leading up to the battle of Waterloo on June 18th, reading "Les prussiens ayant été attaqués, je vous prié de ressembler sans perte de temps votre division, au point de ressemblement, sur les hauteurs en arrière de Haine St. Pierre, ou vous attendez nos ordres." When the Dutch learned that their Prussian neighbors were being attacked by Napoleons army, General Chassé's infantry division and General Collaert's cavalry division were alerted to take defensive positions behind the River Haine and wait for orders by the Duke of Wellington. Wij hebben goedtgevonden, uyt de persoonen den verloopenenen Jaere hebbende bekleet den Schepen-Stoel der Stadt s'Hertogenbosch, voor den aenstaenden jaere tot bekleedinge van den selven Schepen-Stoel, verders aan te stellen, soodanige persoonen als inde nevensgaende Lijste met namen staan geexpresseert (...)". Fentener van Vlissingen and registered free of charge "Uit genegenheid". Contains 10 articles denoting the spouses' rights and obligations: "Betsy, die beloofd en verbindt zich bij dezen/ Om het diner te goeder uur klaar te doen wezen/ Zodat (...) Hij dan op het eten niet lang hoeft te beiden/ Maar dadelijk aanvangen kan, met vleesch te snijden." "Doch Klaas beloofd ook van zijne zijde (...) / Dat iets niet goed gaar is of branderig ruikt/ Hij nooit bromt of zal knorren, maar 't met kalmte gebruikt."

= Incl. letters concering tobacco sales (i.a. by/ to dealers Frowein (of Arnhem), and wine purchases (i.a. to Schröder & Schijler (of Bordeaux); a letter by Godefridus Bijvoet & zoon "Brandspuitmakers wonende te Geertruidenberg" (advertisting their services to the counsel of Haastrecht); a letter by Jacoba Busken to her son Daniël Huet (dated "Briele Aug. 1731") and a "crash mail" envelope rescued from the remains of "De Uiver" after its fatal crash on the 20th of December 1934 (the envelope is poststamped "18 XII 10 68 Rotterdam 1934", addressed to "Mevrouw M. de Winter (...) Soerabaja Ned. O.I." and is stamped on verso "Soerabaja 29 12 34 13". Grease stained (oil?) due to the accident).

= Factual diary written in a well legible hand, consisting of two sections, one at the front of the booklet and one at the end. The first section covers the years 1704-1713 and starts off in 1704 with an account of a journey by ship from Amsterdam to Enkhuizen, via Copenhagen to Riga and then by horse and by boat to Koningsbergen. In 1708 the author returned to Holland via Germany (Berlin, Hornburg, Helberstad, Boeckholtz, Doesburg, Amersfoort, Amsterdam). In 1709 he commences on another journey from Amsterdam, via Deventer, to Delden and on to Holtsenau, Wismar, Rostock, Brandenburg and then to his house in Koningstein, in the Schmidengasse Eck. The journal continues in 1713, when apparently his wife has died ("Na dat het Godbelieft had mijn Liefste door de dood van mij af te scheyden & dus in alles een weersin gekregen hebbende, ben ik 30 Junij 1713 's avonds te 9 uuren met 3 kinderen, een Wijff & Jonge, van Coningst. gevaeren (...)"). They travel back Amsterdam by boat. The second section covers the years 1709-1757 and contains entries written in Danzig, Koningsbergen and Amsterdam, i.a. on the birth of his children and on the decease of his wife, named "Dorothea van Couwenhoven, geboorne Strodt" and the birth of his grandchildren (one died in infancy).

"Regel van Drieen", "Reductio in 't Gebroken", "Multiplicatio in 't Gebroken", "Regel de Valsche Positien", "Verscheiden Vermakelijke Kwesten" and "Gemeterrijsche [sic] Kwesten". Nothing could be traced on Bontko Jans; he occas. added a more personal note: "O Heer door uwe gunst zo leer ik deze kunst.
