= On having sent 3 drawings of scenes in Brighton to Clifford Musgrave, director of the Royal Pavilion, for possible inclusion in the collection of the Royal Pavilion. Thanking Musgrave in a subsequent letter for having chosen "Whitsunday Brighton". In the letter of July 28 1950, Bone writes that he is "working hard - very hard - at my elaborate drawings of Oxford for my wife's forthcoming book. ["Came to Oxford"]. The final letter is on arranging to meet each other for coffee in Musgrave's house and writing that he is "very glad that Brighton has got hold of the railway picture".

- One of the lvs. split on fold.; both lvs. w. horizontal middle-fold.

= Interesting and important letter in which Ensor complains that he has not been mentioned in Mauclair's The French Impressionists (1860-1900) (1903). Ensor writes at large about his search in modernising art, i.a. listing the exhibitions of his works, explaining the modern aspects of the work, and complaining about his isolation and the lack of interest in his work. "J'ai lu votre livre si interessant "the French impressionists" etude bien approfondie, des principaux novateurs de la lumière: peintres, dessinateurs, aquafortistes français et etrangeres où tous les chercheurs sont cités. Hélas! mon chere Mauclair, je n'ai pas trouvé mon nom parmi en novateurs. Pourquoi cet ostracisme? Parce que j'ai précédé et non suive le mouvement? (...) Isolé à Ostende sans connaître alors l'école impressioniste, j'ai devancé les recherches modernes et influencé durant plusieurs années nos peintres belges aujourd'hui très arrivés (...). Ah! si vous avez vu mes oeuvres et surtout "Le chou" peint en 1880 exposé dernierement à la Libre esthétique. Les Monet de 1880 son noirs et opaques et les Van Gogh n'existerent pas alors. (...) Les critiques parisiens n'ont pas signalé mes oeuvres. Oui, ma place n'indiqueant parmi les premiers chercheurs de lumière dans votre livre si complet. Vous ecrivez bien à propos "Ensor n'a nullement la réputation qu'il mérite", c'est ca un effet de l'ingnorance de certain critique et de l''absurde besoin de coller une etiquette au dos des artistes (...)". Stols congratulates Hofstra with his new accomodation and announces the publication of Halcyon no.2, with an article by Hofstra on the work by graphic artist Pam Rueter. He asks if Hofstra can write an article on the work by Th. Mauve for Halcyon 3/4, which he would like to publish before the end of the year.

= An illustrator and artist who was mostly known as a culinary author in later years. Nice letter in which Jans complains to his uncle on the lack of paid work and sending the promised bookplates. The drawings are illustrations of the things addressed in the letter.

= With loosely inserted program and invitation: "(...) tot het bijwonen der demonstratie te houden door de ingenieurs der "Marconi Wireless Telegraph Cy" te London, welke zal plaats hebben Maandag den 28sten April a.s., ten 2 ure 's namiddags, in de Villa Jacobsen naast het Kurhaus nabij het Wandelhoofd in Scheveningen (...). Door Zijne Excellentie den Minister van Marine is H. M. oorlogsbodem "Evertsen" ter beschikking gesteld en zal deze zich 50 mijlen in zee begeven, teneinde over en weer met het vasteland te kunnen telegrafeeren (...)." The album was also used for another event which took place at "Station Overtoom te Amsterdam Februari 1904", probably the official ceremony for the commissioning of the current Tramlijn 1. Autographs include those of Johannes Diderik van der Waals, Piet Zeeman, W.P. van Wickevoort Crommelin, J.B. van Heutsz, Hendrikus Colijn, Eugène Dubois and A.J.N. Engelenberg.
