Ik heb een afrekening gekregen van de eerste drie NWT-nummers van deze jaargang, en ook met subsidies erbij, is het bilan negatief. Ik moet dus kruidenier spelen. Tegelijkertijd had ik er eigenlijk geen rekening meer mee gehouden dat ik nog de rechten van Frisch zou kunnen krijgen, en had ik ook belangstelling getoond voor het (...) verslag van Mario Vargas Llosa over zijn presidentscampagne (...) met Llosa zit ook het novembernummer vol (...) dus Frisch zou ten vroegste in januari kunnen, en dan heeft het ook niet veel waarde meer als funerair eerbewijs - om het cynisch te zeggen: dan heeft zijn dood haar actualiteitswaarde verloren (...)".
