- Soiled spots, mostly in upper corners; sl. faded; remnants of former mount on verso.

= Cf. the drawings in the Nationalmuseum Stockholm (inv./cat.nr NMH 752/1973) and in the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam (RP-T-1898-A-3726). Especially the last drawing depicts the same man and also dated 1630. A drawing in the Graphische Sammlung im Städelschen Kunstinstitut, Frankfurt am Main (inv./cat.nr 3651), shows a different man, but with the exact same hat and coat, also dated 1630. In connection to these drawings it is also interesting to compare them with the print series by the artist Spigel, ofte Toneel der ydelheyd ende ongebondenheyd onser eeuwe (18 prints in total, published in 1633, i.a. Hollstein 109 and 118, showing the same man). SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE CXXVI.
