= Each vol. w. issue number in pen and ink on frontwr.: 1-12 and (2nd part) 1-3. Depicted subjects are figures in a landscape, portrait and anatomy studies and portraits of contemporaries, i.a. (after H.W. CASPARI) fellow artists Hendrik Lageman, Chrétien Dubois, Gerrit Jan Michaëlis and Anthonie van den Bosch. "Vooral Jacob Ernst Marcus dient hier te worden vermeld. Van 1807 tot 1816 gaf hij elke maand een prent uit, totaal 105 stuks, samen het 'Studie Prentwerk' vormend (...) Marcus plaatst geen Griekse goden en godinnen in zijn landschappen, maar mensen, zo uit het werkelijke leven van die tijd weggelopen" (Grafiek in Nederland: de negentiende eeuw, p.19).

= Shown is a square in an Italian town or city, where masked people are celebrating carnival or Lent. Hollstein 361 and New Hollstein 219, 3rd state of 3. This print is part of a series of 12 months: February, September, November and December were engraved by Matham, Hondius engraved four other plates (January, April, May and July) and Andries Stock the remaining. The first state was printed and published by Hondius.
- Doubled w. japanese. Both upper corners strengthened on verso; upper right corner sm. restoration in blank margin; sm. closed tear in upper margin.
= The scene that shows the prodigal son drinking wine while seated at a table and enjoying a copious dinner with numerous diners feasting at his expense. New Hollstein 27, the 2nd state (of 2), the number "2" added in right corner; New Hollstein (Van Mander) 53.
