= Cat. Zandvoort Gravures 100, 2 states, together 7 impressions. "Lodewijk Schelfhout schilderde, tekende en graveerde veel Pierrots. Dikwijls gaf hij achter de figuur de vage omtrekken weer van een gordijn of draperie, zoals ook in deze prent. Ook het vaasje bloemen rechts onder is min of meer vast motief, dat Schelfhout soms gebruikte als deel van de kompositie, soms ter versiering van een al te saai vlak. Mogelijk heeft het een symbolische betekenis, zoals men dat kent van middeleeuwse schilderijen" (Katalogus 34, w. ill.).
