= Eugene Grasset designed this calendar in 1894, it was issued without text (just the names of the months) as a decorative graphic. In 1896, the images were used by the Paris department store, La Belle Jardinière, with the store's name, address and calendars completely filled in on all the sheets. Each month shows a young woman gardening in a dress appropriate for that time of the year, its pattern consisting of a repetition of the respective month's zodiac sign. Murray-Robertson p.201ff.
